Paired Exchange Program, simply put—if you are, for example, an "A" blood type and your donor is a “B” then you are not compatible.
With this program, another donor and recipient with opposite blood type incompatibility (donor is “A” and person in need is “B”) can be found and you would all be tested and a "swap" or exchange could occur. (“A” to “A” and “B” to “B”)

I am in need of an O kidney. My husband would be willing to do a paired donation. He has an A kidney. Please e-mail me if you think we could help each other. Thank you. |

Ethel is in need of an "A" donor. She has someone who is a "B" willing to donate to someone in the paired exchange program. |
Ryan is in need of an "O" donor. He has other "O" donors who have tested but are incompatible with him. Perhaps someone else in need of an "O" donor has had someone test for them that isn't a match. Contact Ryan's mom to see about exchanging donors. |
